KS² The Halal Steak & Grill (“KS²”, “we”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Ontario privacy standards.

1. Information we collect

Account & contact: name, email address, phone number, and password (stored securely hashed).
Reservations & orders: party size, date/time, special requests, order history, and payment status (payment card details are processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers).
Gift cards: phone number registered to the card, gift card code, purchase and redemption amounts, balance, expiry date, activation status, and related transaction history.
Communications: SMS reservation updates, email receipts, and marketing messages where you have consented (CASL-compliant).
Technical: IP address, browser type, and usage data collected through standard web logs and cookies necessary to operate the site.

2. How we use information

To provide reservations, orders, gift cards, and customer account services.
To issue, activate, verify, and redeem gift cards—including confirming the phone number on file at redemption and recording one-time use in accordance with our Terms.
To verify your identity, prevent fraud, and enforce account security (including login lockouts).
To send transactional messages about bookings and orders.
To improve our menu, service, and website experience.
With your consent, to send promotional offers compliant with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

3. Legal basis & consent

We collect and use personal information with your knowledge and consent, except where permitted or required by law. You may withdraw consent for non-essential communications at any time by contacting us or using unsubscribe links in emails.

4. Disclosure

We may share personal information with:

Service providers (hosting, email/SMS delivery, payment processing) bound by confidentiality obligations.
Professional advisers or authorities when required by law or to protect rights and safety.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. Gift card information

When you purchase or redeem a KS² gift card, we collect the information needed to issue the card, confirm payment, and prevent fraud. This includes the phone number assigned to the card, which must match at redemption.

Gift card records are used to activate cards after payment, display balance and expiry in your account, process split payments (gift card plus cash or card), and enforce our one-time-use policy.
Cards are valid for six (6) months from the date payment is confirmed. Expiry and redemption details are described in our Terms & Conditions.
We retain gift card purchase and redemption records as long as needed for accounting, HST compliance, fraud prevention, and dispute resolution.

6. Retention

We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described above, to meet legal and tax obligations (including HST record-keeping), and to resolve disputes.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure; please use a strong password and keep it confidential.

8. Your rights (Canada)

Under PIPEDA, you may:

Request access to personal information we hold about you.
Request correction of inaccurate information.
Withdraw consent subject to legal or contractual restrictions.
Challenge our compliance by contacting our Privacy Officer or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

9. Children

Our services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without parental consent.

10. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above will reflect material changes. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
